Kanagawa
Kanagawa, ken (prefecture), Honshu, Japan, is located to the south of Tokyo, and is bounded on the east by Tokyo Bay, on the south by the Pacific Ocean. Kanagawa prefecture is located to the southwest of Tokyo, Japan. Kanagawa is a relatively small prefecture located at the southeast corner of the Kanto plain, wedged between Tokyo to the north, Mount Fuji Foothills to the northwest, and Tokyo Bay and the Tokyo Sea on the south and east.
In 1945, Kanagawa was the 15th-most populous prefecture in Japan, with about 1.9 million residents. Its capital is Yokohama, and Kanagawa prefecture has some very popular sightseeing destinations in Japan including Hakone and Kamakura.
Being close to Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture offers some fantastic sights to visit on a day trip or a weekend vacation. Kanagawa Prefecture is a popular area to visit within the Tokyo area, and Kamakura and Hakone are two popular destinations to visit on the way. Located to the southwest of Kanagawa Prefecture, Odawara is an important transportation hub, as well as a gateway to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
