Arashiyama

Arashiyama has its share of temples, otherwise it would not be Kyoto, but you may skip taking in a closer look, instead simply wandering down a rural path by a mountainside northwest of Arashiyama. Arashiyama has many sights and experiences that are just as good as those found elsewhere in Kyoto, such as exploring the famous Bamboo Forest, renting a boat and sailing the Katsura River, and visiting some of the prettiest Zen gardens, temples, and shrines. When visiting the bamboo forest of Arashiyama, you will also pass by Tenryu-Ji, the famous Japanese Zen Temple, which has a beautiful Japanese garden located right beside the Bamboo Forest.
